One of my favorite things about shooting with the X100, and now the X100S, is the simplicity that these cameras bring. By embracing the constraints that come with using a single focal length, I can focus completely on subject and composition. This is exactly what I needed this morning when I headed down to Corona del Mar with the X100S and a 10 stop ND filter. Here are three images from today’s exercise in simplicity.
Love these images and yes, the constraints of the x100s do challenge a photographer but as you point out – it is within this context beautiful things can be created! But how do you use a 10 stop ND filter with the x100s? Handhold, strap it, tape it, glue it on the front???

Thank you Jeff for the feedback. As for attaching the ND filter, I use a B+W 58mm ND with a 49mm to 58mm step up ring that screws into the JJC LH-JX100 Lens Hood/Adapter Ring I purchased on Amazon. The reason I use the step up ring is that it allows me to share the filter with the Fujinon XF 14mm for my X-Pro1. I’m planning to get the Lee Seven5 filter system to try using graduated ND filters once the kit becomes more readily available.
